Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation
Due to aging, pregnancy and multiple childbirths, woman’s body endures many changes in the vaginal and perineal muscles in term of:
- Appearance
- Sexual pleasure
- Urine control (stress incontinence)
Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation:
It is a surgical procedure repairing the damage on the vaginal and perineal muscles to restore the area to its pre-pregnancy status, and tightening the muscles on the top, bottom, and outside of the vagina. if there was a need to treat stress incontinence, it can be corrected.
Preparing for the procedure:
– Discuss with the doctor what type of medications that must be discontinued.
– Stop smoking for at least 2 weeks before the procedure.
– Stop eating and drinking starting from midnight the night before the procedure.
During the procedure:
- It is done in the operating room.
- Laser is used to cut and tighten the vaginal muscles.
- The procedure usually takes one hour.
After the procedure:
- The patient can be cleared to go home after 2 hours.
- The patient may feel some pain similar to episiotomy after anesthesia wears off. Narcotic medications is prescribed to relive the pain.
- It is advised to apply ice packs 20 minutes on and then 20 minutes off during the first 48 hours to reduce swelling.
- If stress incontinence was treated, a catheter will be used for 4 days after the procedure.
- No sexual activity and exercising for 6 weeks.
- Discomfort usually will end within 7 – 10 days.
- The lady is able to go back to work within one week.
Possible minor risks (possibility of less than 1%):
- Bleeding.
- Infection.
