Cesarean Section Delivery<\/strong><\/p>

The mother can choose to deliver her baby either in the natural way (vaginal) or by a C section. she should discuss that with her doctor.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Why some ladies have a cesarean section after labor has started:<\/strong>
– Baby head is big.
– Mother pelvis is small.
– Baby position is not normal, side way or chin first.
– Baby’s heart rate is low.
– Mother’s heavy bleeding.<\/p>

How it is done:<\/strong>
Preparation:<\/strong>
– Anesthetic will be inserted to numb the area. If epidural is already placed for the attempted vaginal delivery, it can be used.
– Oral anti-acid will be given to reduce the acidity of the stomach.
– Another medication may be given to reduce the secretion of the mouth and nose.
The Surgery:<\/strong>
– A horizontal incision will be done in the lower belly area 1 to 2 inches above pubic area.
– Then, an opening in the uterus will be done to take out the baby. Umbilical cord will be cut and placenta will be removed.
– Finally, belly and uterus cuts will be stitched.<\/p>

Operation takes from 30 minutes to one hour.<\/p>

How long does it take to recover from C section:<\/strong>
Mother will need to stay at the hospitals for 3 days. In few hours mother can move around and eat. After 6 weeks, it will be healed completely and mother can go back to work by that time.<\/p>

Symptoms after having C section:<\/strong>
– Light bleeding and yellow fluids coming from vagina.
– Pain where the incision is.
– Mild belly cramps.<\/p>

You need to contact your doctor in case of:<\/strong>
– High fever (38\u00b0 C or higher)
– heavier vaginal bleeding.
– Pain getting worse.
– the incision is more red or sore.
– The incision is bleeding or leaking fluids.<\/p>

C Section risks:<\/strong>
Comparing to vaginal delivery, C section has higher chances of:
– Infections.
– Longer recovery time.
– Problems with placenta and uterus in next pregnancies.
– Blood clots.
– Harm on bladder, blood vessels or other near organs.
– Taking longer for the mother to bond with her baby.
