Vulval Area Care<\/strong><\/p>

  • Do not wash inside your vagina. The vagina cleans itself\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • Avoid using any vaginal scrubs, scented soaps, deodorants, bubble baths, feminine hygiene sprays\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • Avoid using sponges or flannels to wash the vulva. These can irritate your skin<\/span><\/li>
  • \u00a0<\/span>Gently dab the area dry with a soft towel or use a hairdryer on a cool setting held well away from the skin<\/span><\/li>
  • \u00a0<\/span>Wear cotton underwear<\/span><\/li>
  • Wash new underwear before wearing them<\/span><\/li>
  • \u00a0<\/span>Avoid tight-fitting clothing<\/span><\/li>
  • \u00a0<\/span>Change your clothes and underwear after working out and wash them between uses<\/span><\/li>
  • \u00a0<\/span>Change bathing suits as soon as possible after done swimming and wash them between uses<\/span><\/li>
  • \u00a0<\/span>Avoid scented pads, and liners<\/span><\/li>
  • \u00a0<\/span>Avoid using creams not prescribed by the doctor<\/span><\/li>
  • Preferably shower rather than bath<\/span><\/li>
  • If you must use a cleanser, use an unscented, soap-free skin cleanser or mild soap once a day only. Make <\/span>sure to rinse thoroughly<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    \u00a0 Emollients: (e.g.: Hydramol, Diprobase, and Aveeno)<\/strong><\/p>

    • It is recommended to moisturise your vulval skin. Use emollients to protect the skin and prevent flare ups<\/span><\/li>
    • Apply the cream to the vulval area before showering as it will act as a barrier to soap\/shower gel. This will stop the skin from getting as dry and irritated as it would if you used soap or water alone. At the end of your shower, wash\u00a0 off the cream with your hand<\/span><\/li>
    • If your skin is irritated, emollient cream can be kept in the fridge and dabbed on to cool and soothe the skin as often as you like<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
