Back and abdominal pain<br \/>b. Contractions.<br \/>c. Uterine tenderness.<br \/>d. Firmness in abdomen.<\/p><p>The mother should go to the emergency immediately.<\/p><hr \/><p><strong>Risk factors:<\/strong><br \/>a. history of placenta abruption in previous pregnancy.<br \/>b. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dr-hanan.com\/ws\/en\/amniotic-fluid-increase-polyhydramnios\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Polyhydramnios<\/a><\/span>.<br \/>c. Chronic hypertension.<br \/>d. High blood pressure during pregnancy.<br \/>e. Smoking, or exposed to tobacco.<br \/>f. preterm premature rupture of membranes.<br \/>g. Multiple pregnancy.<br \/>h. Older age.<br \/>i. Trauma.<\/p><hr \/><p><strong>Complications:<\/strong><br \/>a. Fetal restricted growth.<br \/>b. Stillbirth.<br \/>c. premature birth.<br \/>e. Emergency C-section.<br \/>f. Complications of Heavy blood loss example: blood transfusion.<br \/>g. Need for hysterectomy.<br \/>e. Blood clotting problems with the mother.<\/p><hr \/><p><strong>Prevention:<\/strong><br \/>It can not be prevented, but to reduce the risk, the mother should:<br \/>Be careful and avoid getting injured or falling<br \/>Quit smoking.<br \/>Control her blood pressure .<\/p><hr \/><p><strong>Management:<\/strong><br \/>If both the mother and fetus are stable:<br \/><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a. less than 34 weeks of gestation:<\/span><br \/>Wait until week 37 &#8211; 38 with close monitoring.<br \/>The mother might be given medications (antenatal corticosteroids) for fetal lung development.<\/p><hr \/><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">b. at 34 to 36 weeks of gestation:<\/span><br \/>Delivery is recommended to avoid the risk of mother or fetus loss.
